According to Iyengar, Natarajasana is a beautiful and vigorous pose and who could argue? The pose shows strength, grace, an open heart, and utmost balance.
Align & Deepen
The pose is dedicated to Shiva, Lord of the Dance. It is an advance pose. In most yoga classes, dancer’s pose is modified by grabbing the ankle from the side instead of the foot for a more gentler chest opening. Students might also be asked to lean forward to relieve some of the backbend.
