Amazon is making easier to shop for sustainable products with Amazon Aware

All products from the line are certified carbon neutral. An external certifier, ClimatePartner certifies the product using the GHG (Greenhouse Gas) Protocol. Currently, the brand sells beauty, household essentials, bed and bath, and apparel.

Another way Amazon makes it easier for conscious shoppers is the Climate Pledge Friendly Program. If products are certified by one of the programs (currently 32), they can get a badge with the product information. For conscious shoppers, the badge can help narrow choices.

Additionally, the company also has its own certification program, Compact by Design, which promotes efficient packing. Thoughtful packaging reduces waste, plastics, and improves the transportation of products.

Amazon’s efforts not only help shoppers, but incentivize sellers to shift to more sustainable practices. The company has committed to net zero carbon by 2040. “Net zero refers to a state in which the greenhouse gases going into the atmosphere are balanced by removal out of the atmosphere.”
