King Dancer’s Pose

King Dancer or Dancer’s Pose: Natarajasana

  • Nata: dancer

  • Raj: king

  • asana: pose

There’s a level for everyone with dancer’s pose. You can use a wall to help with balance or try bending the standing leg and see how that feels.  If you can’t grab the back foot, that’s fine too, as long as you’re flexing the knee back.  In this video I play with leaning forward, but I prefer to keep my torso upright. Experiment and play. I just love how the pose uses your own resistance to open up. Standing leg pushes down, free leg pushes back and up, chest forward, hand reaches up, shoulders reach down. Keep practicing good alignment and eventually, the mind settles and the body will know what to do.
